* A couple of Georgia Adopt-A-Stream volunteer "creek geeks" test the part of Peachtree Creek that runs though our park for chemical and bacterial pollution. These 2 charts may help interpret what the numbers mean.
The bacterium we test for is E. Coli which is normally found in the digestive tract of us animals. E.coli is a coliform, or colony-forming, bacteria so their numbers are measured in terms of colony forming units (cfu) per 100 milliliters of water. The table below shows GA standards for E. Coli levels in designated swimming areas.
